Weekly Tips and Trivia #1

Every week WhenWeEat brings you seven most awesome cooking tips and food trivia to ease the pressure in your culinary world. Following are this week’s tips and trivia presented to you by Red Chilli and Green Chilli aka the authors of WhenWeEat:
1.      Coconut milk is a very good non-dairy milk alternative.

2.      Want to preserve pickles for a longer time? Put 2-3 dry red chilies in the pickle jar. This will also keep the pickles fungus free.

3.    While boiling rice sprinkle a pinch of salt in it, this way your rice won’t get mushy or too soft.

4. To get restaurant like noodles, put 5-6 drops of cooking oil in the hot water bowl and then put your uncooked noodles in it. Keep it for 10 minutes and rinse through cold water.



5. Keep your sweet stuff away from the ants. Put 2-3 cloves in the sugar jars, sweet box, gur (jaggery), etc and see the magic.

6. To make your refrigerator more energy efficient, keep all containers, foods, jars, bottles, etc covered or capped.
