Our Platter

Dahi Vada

Decoding the dish: 1 big size crushed vada, fresh sweet & sour curd, garam masala, dhania (coriander) chutney, Imli (tamarind) chutney and sev-bhujiya.

WWEat thinks:The fresh dahi-vadas were made in front of us in one full medium sized thermocol bowl. The dish was full of Indian flavours complimented by fresh curd. Full marks on taste and we must mention that they generously spread the yummy curd and bhujiya.

Paapdi Chaat

Decoding the dish: 6-8 paapdis, fresh dahi, mashed potatoes, sprouts, garam masala, dhania (coriander) chutney, imli (tamarind) chutney and sev-bhujiya.

WWEat thinks:  Again we experienced the wow factor. But first of all we sincerely apologise for not providing you the picture of that awesome Paapdi Chaat. Actually we couldn’t resist ourselves from gulping the tempting Paapdi Chaat the very moment it was served to us. Nuff said!

Gulab Jamun

Decoding the dish: Semi-hot and moderate sized Gulab Jamun with crushed pista inside and sugar syrup.

WWEat thinks:  Yummy, we didn’t feel even 0.1% guilty for devouring the rich fat Gulab Jamun.

Overview/The Restaurant

After a long tiring day at work, we headed to Bikaner Bhujiawala for some afternoon snacks. Located along the Taratala mor in South Kolkata, the first thing that strikes about the eatery is that its spacious and well lit. The ambience is amplified by cheerful behaviour of the staffs and the owner.

We had planned earlier to try some Indian snacks today and what would be better than Dahi Vada & Paapdi Chaat! Aroma of Indian spices. First came the Dahi Vada. They prepare the dish in front of you making you more hungry in the process (which is a great technique).

As we filled our mouths with gulps of the fresh Dahi Vada we experienced a ripple of outstanding flavours. It was fresh and appeasing. Although our stomach’s were completely full we had already ordered a plate of Paapdi Chaat.

Again the Paapdi Chaat was another blend of delicious Indian flavours. From the crunchy Paapdis to the tangy masala, it was all worth the try. Once we were done with the Paapdi Chaat we were ready to leave. However, the luscious Gulaab Jamuns blocked our way. We had no space in our tummies, still we gave into the lust of having at least one gulaab jamun.

We were surrounded by other welcoming treats like dry fruit barfi, rose petaled sondesh, cherry sondesh, delicious imartis and many more. But we humans have limited inventory space in our tummies. Therefore, smiling and happy, we stepped out of the eatery, vowing to ourselves that we will return soon J
